CULLOHILL TIDY TOWNS: Cullohill Tidy Towns will hold a Fancy Dress Party on Saturday night, October 28th in O’Connells, Cullohill Village. Come along for the prizes and the craic and see who’s making a surprise visit on the night?!!

BALLYOUSKILL VINTAGE RUN: The Annual Ballyouskill Vintage Run takes place this Sunday, October 29th. Registration from 11am. Do come along to enjoy what promises to be a great day!

ARTHRITIS IRELAND KILKENNY – Weekly Coffee: The Arthritis Ireland Kilkenny branch hold their local coffee chat every Saturday morning from 11am until 12 noon in the fantastic Ossory Park Community Centre. Do you live with Fibromyalgia or Arthritis? Don’t suffer alone! Come for a chat, get out of the house, make new friends and know you’re not alone – Looking forward to meeting you, we’ll have the kettle on! LAOIS KAYAK AND CANOE CLUB – Winter Paddling: With the shorter evenings all paddling is now at weekends only due to shorter daylight hours. Please keep an eye out on Facebook page and Viber for information about our weekend trips. Pool Sessions: Pool sessions will be starting soon in conjunction with Balto canoeing club, please keep an eye on our facebook and viber to get details on same. Crayfish: There have been a number of outbreaks of crayfish plagues this summer, this is a disease that kills Irish crayfish. We are advising kayakers to follow these instructions if paddling the following rivers; the River Barrow, the River Suir and the River Deel. If these are your local rivers, please follow these guidelines before travelling to other water courses. Following each trip, all paddle sports equipment should be routinely inspected, disinfected and thoroughly dried out. Drain water from watercraft and inspect inside and out and all other gear. Remove and safely dispose of all attached plant and animal material, mud or debris. Full details are in the club house and on our Facebook page. SOCIAL GROUP IN DURROW? Interested in joining a Social Group in Durrow? If interested please phone (086) 2224178 for more information or meet up in Bowe’s Café this Saturday afternoon, October 27th at 1pm to discuss creating a book club/social group in Durrow. Hoping to expand to other activities such as: cinema, tasting nights, going for a drink, baking, dinner out, knitting, etc… Open to all and all ideas welcome. We hope to see you there!

OUR LADY’S MEADOW PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWS: Cycling: This year once again, The Parent’s Council will subsidise the Cycling Skills training for fifth class students. This will commence on Tuesday, the 7th of November and run for four weeks!
Parent’s Council: The Parents Council are on the lookout for new Members and always welcome a helping hand. The time commitment is limited with a meeting perhaps once every two months. If you would like to get involved or know more please contact Helen in the School Office. All Help and Assistance would be Greatly Appreciated.

THIRD LAOIS DURROW SCOUTS: The 3rd Laois Durrow scout Group has starting back up the new season with a great number of youth and a few adults joining in. HARPS GAA CLUB PRESENTS: Joe Rooney and The Afters “Father Ted Experience” – The ultimate Fr Ted Party night featuring Joe Rooney & The Afters playing music inspired and featured From the hit TV show (My Lovely Horse, Songs of Love Fr Ted Theme, Ghost Town, My Lovely Mayo Mammy) as well as some unholy party hits. Plus full comedy set From Joe Rooney (Fr Damo, Killnaskully) & Patrick McDonrell (Eoin McLove, Naked Camera) Fr Ted fancy Dress, Spot Prizes & lovely girls competition! All takes place in Lennon’s Venue, Durrow on Bank Holiday Sunday night, October 29th from 9pm followed by DJ. Tickets, €10 available from the bar, any Harps GAA Club adult player, any Harps GAA Club committee member or Eventbrite online. HARPS GAA: Children’s Disco: A Halloween Disco will be held on Friday, October 27th from 7pm to 9pm in Cullohill Community Centre. (All Children must be supervised by Parents). Disco with fun and games, guess the sweets in the jar, name the cat and shop facilities. There will be a special prize for the Best Halloween Costume! Admission: €5 per child.

BRIDGE CLUB: Durrow Bridge Club continues for the winter season on Wednesday evenings in the Presentation Centre at 7.45pm. All are most welcome.

LSCPA RESCUE – URGENT APPEAL: We desperately need Dog Fosterers, we are full beyond our limit and cannot take in anymore dogs, unless we get more fosterers. We supply everything and cover all veterinary costs. If you can help, contact our Dog coordinator on (086)4169559.

CULLOHILL COMMUNITY CENTRE: Progressive 25 Card Games are held in the hall every Sunday night at 8.30pm sharp followed by tea and sandwiches. Please support!

DURROW CHOIR REHEARSALS: Durrow choir, ‘Vocem Daru’ are continuing their rehearsals and music making on Tuesdays in the Presentation Centre from 7.30pm until 9.30pm. We are always looking for new members. Do you love music, and enjoy singing, and would like to be part of a mixed voice choir, singing everything from ballads to pop, traditional to classical?
