REPORT: SFAI Cup Round 4 – Lions 1 V 2 Bohemians Waterford. Scorer: Fionn O Sullivan. Heartbreak for the young Lions in Durrow as they exited the SFAI Cup recently. Despite dominating the early stages of the game the Lions fell behind to an early goal, when Bohs were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Lions box. As Shane Ruane was organising his wall a quick free kick was dispatched into the far top corner. The goal stood and the Lions were 1 nil down. The Lions reacted well and pressed for an equaliser Conor, Jack, Joey and Fionn all brought top class saves from a very impressive Bohs keeper.
The Lions started the second half on the front foot and equalised when Fionn turned in a cross from Joey. The Lads forced corner after corner and Conor’s volleyed seemed to cross the Bohs goalline. No goaline technology today… no goal. Bohs were always dangerous on the break and the Lions had Sean Mockler to thank for a last minute tackle to keep the scores level. The Lions pressure was mounting and Bohs were reduced to ten men after a straight red card. Despite this Bohs took the lead with a close range shot with ten minutes remaining. The Lions pressed for an equaliser as Danny, Rian and Fionn all had shots saved by the away keeper. One of those days when the bounce of the ball didn’t go our way, but a brilliant performance from our lads who kept going right to the end. Best of luck to Bohs for the rest of the Season.
